What People Are Saying About Us

LIFE ISN’T ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS…
…IT’S LEARNING HOW TO DANCE IN THE RAIN-unknown

I’ve tried gyms and personal training. I made a home gym. None of that was motivating. The adult dance classes at Kaye-Lynn gave me a fit body without boredom. The variety of classes and the fact that nearly every day I have something fun to get to made it my best fitness choice ever.

I used to love to dance as a child. As an adult, it was always difficult to find dance classes which were age-appropriate, affordable, near my home, and challenging. Kaye Lynn has brought dance back in my life. I’m doing tap and jazz, with full-body stretching, all while having fun and getting a great workout. What more can I ask for? Thanks,  Kaye Lynn!

Hey Robin,

The best thing I have done for myself in years is sign up for classes at Kaye Lynn.  No more sitting from the outside and looking in, I am getting back to what I love doing, dancing!  The classes are fun, energetic and an amazing workout every time.  And the best part is, everyone can do it.

Major major major Thank you for the incredible encouragement of little miss ela in your Monday 4:10 class today.  Your support made her feel for the very first time in her young life…talented and good at something more than the other kids.  This doesn’t happen to her very often and your special attention today touched deep into her spirit.  The experience you two shared today is one that this little girl and this crazy mom will never ever forget. I always knew I chose the right place to train at and today was yet another confirmation that you all know what you are doing so much better than anyone else around!  Not just because you reached my girl, but because I can clearly see the way you have influenced all those who dance and have danced across the floors of your wonderful studio.  You have and will always have my immense gratitude for what you do and accomplish with our children everyday. Kudos Miss Robin and Company!

With much Admiration,

Laurie

Dance Demo 2012 still rings in my heart as one of the best I have attended. After five years of being with Kaye-Lynn I am prouder than ever to say “My daughters dance at Kaye-Lynn”. Miss Robin and all of her dedicated teachers instill confidence, love and dedication to the art of dance. The family atmosphere Kaye-Lynn has created and continues to create makes each dancer feel they are special. … From the smallest to the graduating student, each student knows that when they step inside the doors of Kaye-Lynn they will be greeted with a smile, a warm hug if needed AND if needed a listening ear. Watching my oldest dance this year and grow not only as a dancer but as a person is something I can never repay. Thank you Miss Robin for your hard-work, your dedication, your passion for dance and most importantly the love you have given to my girls. Words can never express how much this year has meant to my family.

Dear Miss Robin,

I wanted to take a moment to formally thank you for the incredible impact you have had on both of my daughters. First, as you know, my daughter Emilyn has been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. At Kaye-Lynn, she has found a safe and empowering class to be a part of. You and her other instructors are more than teachers, you are friends to her.

Emilyn’s over-the-top exuberant personality and her struggle with her motor skills had, in the past, made other dance classes difficult and embarrassing for her. She dropped out of other dance schools, even though she loved to dance and move to music at home — she just did not want to risk ridicule in front her friends or classmates.

But then we read an article in the local paper about you and Kaye-Lynn Dance Studios and my younger daughter Meghan was invited to a birthday party at your dance school. Meghan is extremely shy in public, but declared Kaye-Lynn HER dance school because she had such a great time and felt so comfortable there. I knew then that there must be something special about your dance studio.

So both girls gave it a try, attending some preliminary classes in September. What a revelation! A dance class that was educational and fun — not militant! A dance instructor who cared enough about her students to find the right class and the right fit for each of her students, making sure all of them were learning and enjoying themselves in a safe and positive environment.

So thank you Miss Robin, thank you for your incredible energy, thank you for your kindness, and thank you for your warm and wonderful heart. We are so happy that we are part of the Kaye-Lynn experience and so grateful to have found you and the Kaye-Lynn Dance Studio, right here in our own little town.

Sincerely,

Karen Curtis

Thanks Miss Robin for all you do for these children.  You show them  not only how to dance but you teach them self confidence and make them feel good about themselves. I feel safe and worry free when I bring my child to dance here. She is accepted and respected for the person she is. It is the greatest thing around. The support staff is great also and my daughter can not wait for dance day where she meets her old friends and makes new ones.

i love working with the kids. Teaching them makes me feel i have a purpose and it’s very fulfilling being able to teach them. it’s really exciting watching them improve and knowing i was able to help because life isn’t simple for these kids but being able to give them the opportunity to dance and have fun makes me happy.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter in reference to Robin Kaye.  She came to us in response to a parent wanting dance lessons for her special needs child but what we got was a person willing to come to our program and teach dance to our kids.

We run a Recreational Program for children with special needs in Freehold.  After telling her what we do she immediately said I want to work with you and bring this to your group.  Our first time working with her was great.  All of the children were worked with individually and given the special attention they needed.  She came in all ready with different activities such as scarves, beanie babies and mats for the children to be safe.  The music was fun and all the children were inspired to do things not normally done.

She treated all the children as if they had no special needs…like the were just kids and I know that as an special educator I found it refreshing.  She has a great love for what she does and it shows every time she is with the kids.  We are so happy that she is working with us and I hope it’s something we can do for a long time.

Sincerely,

Laura Lang

My daughter expressed an interest in dancing about 2 years ago, and I started to research dance programs.  Much to my dismay there were no local schools who were willing to take on my special needs daughter.  Many places I called laughed or were very sarcastic when I even asked.  This is very disappointing since I have children involved in gymnastics and all star cheerleading and those organizations are very open to taking on special needs children.  The dance community unfortunately is not as inclusive.  Then by a chance recommendation from a friend I found Kaye Lynn Dance studio & Robin.  Robin was so enthusiastic about giving Serena a chance.  She has worked with my daughter since September 2010, and my daughter LOVES dancing and looks forward to coming to class.  The Kaye Lynn dance studio provides an accepting atmosphere, my daughter feels welcome and accepted here, this means a great deal to me.  The special needs class is a mixture of dance techniques as well as OT/PT tasks that will help with motor skill development.  Individual buddies are assigned so they will work with the individual needs of your child.  The buddies are from Kaye Lynn’s Encore program, and you will never meet a more caring and amazing bunch of young women.  Anyone out there who has a special needs child who is interested in dance or if you are just looking for a different activity for your child, I encourage you to call Kaye Lynn and set up an appointment to take a look at the special needs program.  You will not be sorry!

My name is Carolyn Lita and I am the parent of a 12 year-old girl afflicted with Autism.  My daughter, Rianna, has tried numerous after-school and/or weekend activities, such as joining a “buddy-ball” league (a little league team specifically geared for special needs children), as well as a Saturday program run by the State to help increase her socialization skills.  However, she was never truly at peace with herself in any of these programs and would react to them by hitting herself and/or other participants of the program, crying, banging her head against the nearest hard object or simply shutting down.  I knew in my heart that she COULD participate in whatever it was, but simply did not want to.  So, as most parents of autistic children tend to do, my husband and I withdrew her from the programs and tried something else.  This pattern of joining and then withdrawing after a few times/classes continued for about five years.

About a year ago, my daughter’s school sent home a flyer about a special needs dance class that was being offered at KayeLynn Dance Studios.  Since I myself love to dance and was constantly twirling my daughter around the room just to hear her laugh, I immediately contacted the program director, Robin Kaye, to discuss the program.  I’m a true believer in “gut instincts” and from the first five minutes of our conversation, I knew I found not only a compassionate, caring individual who truly loved working with children, but a program that my daughter would actually enjoy and excel at.  From our first class with Robin, my daughter was totally at ease.  Robin understood if she needed a break and patiently brought her attention back to the task at hand.  My daughter was able to follow Robin’s simple instructions and movements without frustration.  At the end of the first class, she asked when we were coming back again to “dance class.”

Months later, my daughter is enjoying her time at dance.  She follows instructions and listens intently to all she’s taught and from the look on her face when she learns a new movement, is thoroughly proud of herself.  I believe for the first time in her life, she doesn’t feel “different” from other children.  She’s even been choreographing her own little dance routine from the steps Robin has taught her.  In addition to feeling a sense of accomplishment, my daughter truly enjoys her time with her “friend” Robin and constantly hugs and kisses Robin to show her just how much.  While she shows affection to members of our family, rarely, if ever, does she ever show that much affection to outsiders.  I’m positive Rianna feels Robin is or has become a member of her family.

As a parent who has become accustomed to people having little or no patience with my daughter and blaming myself for the way others behave, I finally can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that my daughter has finally found herself through dance, thanks to Robin.

And, as a bonus,  I also gained a new “member” of my family.

Kaye-Lynn Dance Studio is a place that I’ve had the pleasure of calling home since 1984.  Just thinking about the studio warms my heart and puts a smile on my face.  Dance was and still is definitive of my being.  I remember getting home from school and doing all of my homework right away before I had to “go to dance”.  In fact, years later, I saw a t-shirt that said, “I cant, I have to go to dance”…that was me and I loved it.  Whether I was taking class from Miss Lynn, Miss Robin, or any of the guest artists brought in to teach, I knew that I was going to a place where I could be myself and feel rewarded.  I knew that I could trust Robin’s choices as the artistic director, and that I was getting the best education possible.  She would always steer me in the right direction whether it was related to dance or in my life.  I have never met more supportive women like Robin and Miss Lynn.  When it came time for me to go off to college, Miss Lynn sat me down with a book of universities for dance and made sure I felt comfortable choosing the right school, and that I was prepared for my audition.  Her counseling was always accepted with open arms. I am forever indebted and still strive to make them proud every time I walk into a studio.  Kaye-Lynn is so much more than a dance school, it is a place that builds strength, confidence, kindness, charisma, and creativity.

Dancing is an art form that transports the soul.  There is no bigger gift, and Kaye-Lynn has given that to thousands of students.

Lisa Bottles That is sooo beautiful! It is the true definition of kaye lynns… because its not just a dance school … its a home away from home. We grew up there. Our best friendships were built there. Dancing schools are a dime a dozen but kaye lynns is so much more than that. I am forever grateful for the 12 wonderful years I had there and the knowledge and friendships that will last a lifetime. Love you robin!

At the age of 60 I needed to improve my balance, flexibility and posture.

I chose Ms. Robin at Kaye- Lynn’s Dance Studio for her love of dance, and heartwarming testimonies from her acclaimed special needs children’s’ programs.

So last Aug 2011, I put on my first pair of ballet slippers, never realizing what a life altering journey it would be.

Each week I eagerly look forward to my ballet lessons with Ms. Robin because she provides a safe and nurturing environment with a creative approach to explore the world of adult ballet and movement. She understands the frustration in getting one’s body to learn something new and makes it fun, so whatever feelings of awkwardness or intimidation quickly disappeared.

A typical workout consists of stretching at the barre, plies, mature leaps, spins, dance patterns and a cool down. As a result, my posture and alignment is better, my back, abdominal muscles, legs and arms are stronger and my balance and flexibility has significantly improved.

Thanks to Ms Robin’s coaching, each time I am in front of her mirrors I have come to realize that I can do a lot more that I ever thought possible with my body. Moving to the beautiful music, I am learning to relax my mind and use my body as an outlet for emotional expression. Not only is ballet toning my body, it is also teaching my whole body to move in sync with itself. What a joy to experience a sense of control when performing a ballet movement.

Today, I am more graceful, confident, and yes, feel beautiful thanks to the exquisite ballet sessions with Ms. Robin. I invite you to slip on ballet slippers and join me as we embrace all the joys and benefits from her adult ballet class.
